The sun is out, it's the month of two bank holidays, and there are road trips on the cards. Here's six essentials we never leave off our packing list. Let us know if there's anything you would add!
- Good Coffee Setup: Your favourite locally roasted beans taste even better in the middle of nowhere. For day trips, we brew before we go and take a flask. For longer trips, we take the V60 dripper or Aeropress.
- Map: Google maps is great, but don’t get caught out if you’re in a remote location with no signal. Ordance Survey maps are also brilliant for sussing out walks, wild swimming spots, and assessing the terrain for 4x4's
- Camera: Grab your DSLR and use the opportunity to brush up your photography skills. We also love taking an old film camera or a Camp Snap so the photos are a fun suprise when you download or develop them.
- Quality Snacks: It doesn’t have to be complicated. Taking a loaf of sourdough and some good cheddar makes for the best grilled cheese (oh and, butter the outside of the bread too). Save that Pot Noodle from the roadside garage for emergencies!
-
Safety Gear: Yeah it sounds boring but... A torch, fire extinguisher, first aid kit and jump leads can be the most welcome addition to your kit on the (hopefully) rare occasion that you do need them.
- Firelighting Kit: Taking a few logs, kindling, natural firelighters and matches will make the whole process easier and quicker if the weather has been damp. A portable fire pit will keep your fire off the ground. Don’t forget to carry extra water to extinguish any embers before you leave.
