The Cheviot

Crafted by hand in Sheffield, The Cheviot is a folding pocket knife built for exploring, errands and everything in between.

It carries just the right weight in the hand, and slips easily into a pocket, pack, or kit bag.

A knife made for those who believe the best gear should be used, not saved.

DESIGN & ENGRAVING

The hardwood handle is engraved with the contours of The Cheviot, Northumberland’s highest peak, faithfully reproduced from a 1924 Ordnance Survey map.

It’s a subtle tribute to high ground and the paths through them, etched into a tool that’s built to last.

BLADE & FUNCTION

The 2.5" stainless steel blade is sharp, compact, and UK legal for everyday carry.

It’s tough enough for camp chores and precise enough for lunch prep, earning its place in your pocket day after day.

Stainless steel is easy to look after - just dry and clean it after each use and it will last for a lifetime.

HERITAGE

Knives have been made under the Eye Witness name in Sheffield since 1838, when John Taylor registered the mark after nearly two decades of blade making in the city.

Today, the company's still based in Sheffield and is now proudly owned by an Employee Trust, keeping the craft where it belongs.

PERSONALISE IT

Add engraving to the blade to make it personal; initials, a name, or a meaningful date. It’s a small detail that turns a well-made tool into something truly special.

There's two areas on the blade we can engrave on - along the top edge of the blade (which is still visible when the knife is closed) or on the main body of the blade (which is only seen when the knife is open). We recommend the top edge for shorter engravings like names, initials or dates, and the main body of the blade for longer messages and inscriptions.

Tap ‘Add Engraving’ at the top of the page to enter your text, choose the location, your preferred font, and preview exactly how it will look.

We engrave each knife in our coastal studio and make sure it’s just right before sending it your way.
