Who We Are
I'm Tristan, the founder of Fieldtrip.
The business started out of our own needs. We live in Tynemouth (on the North East coast) and we spend a lot of our time down at the beach and we'd always take a flask of hot chocolate to warm the kids up after they've been in the sea.
We started off using enamel camping cups - but they'd scald your hands as soon as they had a hot drink in them. Then we tried insulated mugs - great at keeping the drinks hot, but they took up half our bag.
The Idea
So we came up with something new - a set of vacuum insulated stainless steel cups, that stack together, and store inside a British made waxed-cotton bag. They keep your drinks hot, you don't burn your hands, and they take up about the same space as a water bottle in your bag.
That was the beginning. We've since added a pocket knife (the Cheviot knife, made in Sheffield), a cutlery roll (made in Scotland), a canvas picnic bag (made in Great Yarmouth), and a few other things. We finish every product by hand, here in our workshop in Tynemouth, along with doing all the engraving, and packing and posting all the orders.
The Why
Fieldtrip exists because we think time outside matters. We're not making gear for ultralight expeditions or extreme trips. We're for the campfire on the beach after school, the walk up the hill to watch a sunrise, or the camping trip where it rains the whole week but you still have a great time.
We love being a part of your adventures, and we love making products that will be with you for decades of trips together.
